tsar's engagements

John Evelyn, pleased to have rented his house to Peter the Great in 1697, notes in his diary some of the tsar's engagements in England that spring:
'Jan. 2. The Czar of Moscovy landed and came to London.
Feb 6. The Czar Emperor of Moscovy, having a mind to see the Building of Ships, hired my House at Says Court, & made it his Court & palace, lying & remaining in it, new furnish'd for him by the King.
Mar. 20. The Czar goes to Portsmouth to see the representation of a sea fight.
April 21. The Czar of Moscovy went from my house towards Russia.'
