Call-up poster for the Empire, World War II On the outbreak of World War II Britain did not stand alone. The dominions of her Empire and Commonwealth covered about one quarter of the world's land and included one quarter of its population. With the exception of Eire which remained neutral, these dominions were prepared to stand with Britain to halt the wave of fascism that swept through Europe and North Africa.

This call-up poster, produced by the Ministry of Information, was used to encourage men of the Empire to join the fighting services.
