This composite figure gives a good impression of the appearance of a Mongol cavalryman of the 13th century. The helmet is of the 18th century but most of the other pieces can be dated to the 17th century or earlier. Not all Mongol cavalry were light horsemen, and many wore this type of lamellar armour of steel plates to protect themselves and their horses. xxvia.157, etc
