Jeffry Wyatville
|
|
(b. Wyatt, 1766–1840, kt 1828) Architect and nephew of James *Wyatt, whose pseudo-historical change of name (in keeping with the flavour of his architecture) was prompted by his winning a competition in 1824 to remodel much of *Windsor Castle. *George IV granted him the improved name when laying the foundation stone of the proposed work, and gave him a knighthood on its completion four years later. Wyatville was working at the same period on *Chatsworth.
