Two traditional forms of wrestling in Britain have become better known than others: that of Cumberland and Westmorland, in which the contestants start in a clinch or 'hold', chest to chest, and try to wrestle each other to the ground from that position; and that of Devon and Cornwall, where the wrestlers wear jackets and attempt to throw each other from a standing position by holding the opponent's collar and one sleeve.
