The name commonly given to Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick (1428–71), the most powerful baron of his time, because of his influence on whether *Edward IV or *Henry VI wore the crown during the *Wars of the Roses. He was killed fighting against Edward IV in the Battle of Barnet.
