(Royal Dockyard, Portsmouth) The Royal Navy's first ironclad steam frigate (9210 tons), launched at Blackwall on the Thames in 1860. From 1904 to 1924 she was used in a torpedo school at Portsmouth. She was then effectively forgotten until being rediscovered in the 1960s, in use as a floating jetty for unloading oil at Milford Haven. Fully restored in all her interior details, she is now on display in *Portsmouth.
