(7km/4m W of Cardiff) Branch of the *National Museum of Wales, occupying St Fagan's Castle (an Elizabethan mansion within the wall of an earlier stronghold) and the surrounding 32ha/80ac of parkland. In the house and in newly built galleries there are displays of Welsh social and agricultural history, and characteristic buildings of different kinds have been rescued from all over Wales and reconstructed in the grounds.
