Wall's
|
|
The company which pioneered the distribution of ice cream in Britain. Between the wars several thousand men on tricycles pedalled Wall's ice cream from numerous depots to the surrounding districts, with their famous slogan 'Stop me and buy one'. The origin of the company was the London meat pie and sausage shop of Richard Wall, which his descendants developed into a large national concern. Ice cream was introduced in 1922 as a side-line for the summer period, when the sausage business invariably slackened.
