Ulster Orchestra
|
|
The province's only professional orchestra, formed in 1966 and originally administered by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. It made its first record in 1979 to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Ulster-born Hamilton Harty. In recent years it has established a reputation for its performances of the French repertoire under Yan Pascal Tortelier (principal conductor 1989–92).
