The Two Gentlemen of Verona
|
|
(c.1593) Comedy by *Shakespeare about the tortuous path of love between two gentlemen from Verona, Valentine and Proteus, and their respective maidens, Silvia and Julia. All ends happily after much confusion, brought about by disguises and temporary betrayals. Meanwhile Proteus's servant Launce, troubled by his ill-natured dog Crab, provides a level of more clownish humour.
