Donald Soper

|
(1903–98, baron 1965) Methodist minister who became famous for his oratorical skills in holding forth not only in the service of his Christian mission but on any topic of moral or political importance. For many years he appeared regularly among the public orators (most of them, unlike him, wildly eccentric) at London's Tower Hill and *Speakers' Corner, fielding questions from the crowd.
