(foaled 1978) Bay colt which won the Derby by a record ten lengths in 1981, ridden by Walter Swinburn (b. 1961). After winning several other races with equal ease, including the Irish Derby, he retired to stud in County Kildare in Ireland. There, in February 1983, he was abducted by armed and masked men. The horse was never seen again. A committee of enquiry concluded that he had been taken by members of the IRA and was probably killed soon afterwards.
