Sea Fever
|
|
Poem from *Masefield's first book (Salt-Water Ballads 1902) which rapidly became popular, with its romantic evocation of a life of freedom and the yearning refrain which begins each verse, 'I must down to the seas again'. In 1913 it was set to music by John *Ireland, who changed the line to 'I must go down to the sea again'.
