Saltram House
|
|
(5km/3m E of Plymouth) House remodelled in the 1740s by an unknown architect for John Parker, who commissioned Robert *Adam to create the magnificent saloon (1768–71) and a library which Adam later converted to the present dining room (1781). Parker also gathered an excellent collection of paintings, including about a dozen by *Reynolds, which are still in the house.
