Salisbury Plain
|
|
Large area of chalk downland (about 500sq.km/200sq.m), lying to the north and west of Salisbury and containing *Stonehenge. In recent decades it has been used for military ranges and encampments, a restriction paradoxically of great benefit to the local fauna and flora.
