Reed International
|
|
Company with interests as wide-ranging as publishing and construction, fabrics and chemicals, but with paper at the heart of the business. It derives from the activities of Albert Reed (1846–1920), who managed paper mills in the west country before buying (from 1894) several of his own – mainly in the southeast. Part of his subsequent success came from supplying newsprint to the developing empire of Lord *Northcliffe. He floated his company on the Stock Exchange in 1903.
