Ragley Hall

(16km/10m W of Stratford-upon-Avon House built in the early 1680s to a design by Robert Hooke (1635–1703). The main addition to the exterior is the portico added in 1780 by James *Wyatt, but both Wyatt and before him *Gibbs made major changes to the interior – Gibbs's Great Hall is outstanding, with its richly decorative plasterwork against a plain background. The south staircase is notable for a very large mural, painted in 1969–83 in a traditional style by Graham Rust.
