Quorn
|
|
Already one of the country's best-known hunts (see the *Shires) before an event in 1991 gave it unwelcome extra publicity. The Quorn was infiltrated by a member of the *League Against Cruel Sports, who made videos of its activities. One showed a fox being thrown live to the hounds after it had been dug from its earth; this was contrary to the hunt's own regulations and several of the joint masters resigned because of the incident. The footage, widely seen on television, almost certainly had the League's intended effect of increasing opposition to hunting.
