Sporting club in Hammersmith, west London, founded in 1886 for a wide range of activities but with an emphasis on *real tennis, *rackets and the relatively new game of lawn *tennis. Since 1890 the London Grass Court Championships have been held at the club. The tournament now brings the world's top tennis internationals to Queen's each June – acclimatizing themselves to grass a fortnight before *Wimbledon.
