Public Lending Right
|
|
(PLR) Principle established in 1979 by which authors are paid for each loan of their books from public *libraries. The money, from central government, has been distributed annually since 1984 according to the titles borrowed in some 30 representative libraries throughout the UK (the sampling libraries change each year). The estimated number of loans in a year is about 600 million.
