Pony Club
|
|
A backbone of British country life for middle-class children. Organized in 1929 as a junior branch of the Institute of the Horse, the purpose of the club was to encourage children to ride. The nation was divided into districts, based wherever possible on local hunts, and the present-day pattern of branch activities was soon established, with its tests and badges, summer camps, *gymkhanas and rosettes.
