PC 49
|
|
Hero of the first long-running British police series, on radio from 1947 to 1953. Played by Brian Reece, the London bobby was somewhat improbably called Archibald Berkeley-Willoughby (he had been to a public school). The villains had more characteristic names, such as Knocker Dawson and Slim Jiggs. PC 49 also featured for most of the 1950s in cartoon form in *Eagle.
