Ovaltine
|
|
The name under which the Swiss malt extract Ovomaltine (with its main ingredients eggs and malt) was registered in 1906 in Britain. It is said that the change was a slip of the pen by a ministry clerk, but Ovaltine has subsequently become the drink's name in many other parts of the world. Its fame was greatly increased by the Ovaltiney half hour, broadcast from 1935 on Radio Luxembourg. The show led to the formation of a children's club, the League of Ovaltineys.
