New Age travellers
|
|
Nomads who in recent years have frequently clashed with police in their attempts to gather for festivals of music and to assemble at *Stonehenge for the midsummer solstice. The New Age philosophy, relating back in origin to the hippies of the sixties, rejects the materialism and fragmented nature of modern society – yearning instead for earlier ways of existence which seem closer to nature. A resulting interest in religions older than Christianity leads to the fascination with Stonehenge.
