(1752–1835) The favourite architect of George IV, responsible for the *Royal Pavilion at Brighton and for the rebuilding from 1825 of *Buckingham Palace. His greatest single project was the creation of *Regent's Park and the processional route through the west end of London, linking the park via Portland Place (already existing) and *Regent Street to *Carlton House.
