The Muppet Show
|
|
(ATV 1976–80) Television comedy series featuring puppets of all shapes and sizes (the smallest being a green glove with large eyes and a pink mouth, the show's compere, Kermit the Frog). The Muppets, created by Jim Henson (1936–90), began on the American children's programme Sesame Street, and were adapted in Britain to adult entertainment. Each show was ostensibly put on by the puppets in a theatre, with the elderly and dissatisfied Statler and Waldorf watching from a box. Comfortable Fozzie Bear and the impossibly vain Miss Piggy were popular favourites, and a human celebrity was usually introduced as a victim.
