Loch Leven

Lake in the Tayside region of Scotland, an important nature reserve for wildfowl. It contains Loch Leven castle, used as an island prison for *Mary Queen of Scots in 1567. After 11 months she escaped in a boat with the help of a devoted 16-year-old, Willy Douglas. Another Loch Leven is an inlet of the sea on the west coast, north of Oban.
