Tavern which stood in London's *Fleet Street, famous because it was Dr *Johnson's favourite. It was here that he and *Boswell had supper together for the first time, on 25 June 1763, sitting till past 1 a.m. over two bottles of port. It ceased to be a tavern in 1788 and was pulled down in 1829.
