Marmite
|
|
A tangy yeast spread, eaten usually on buttered bread or toast. Made from brewers' yeast, a by-product of brewing, it was produced from 1902 by the Marmite Food Extract Company at Burton-upon-Trent. Its name is that of the trademark on the label, a marmite or French earthenware cooking pot.
