(1891–1963, kt 1962) New Zealand political cartoonist who worked from 1919 in England. His cartoons have a powerful clarity both of line and concept. The majority appeared in the Evening Standard (1927–50), where his most enduring characterizations were Colonel *Blimp and the carthorse symbolizing the *TUC.
