Liverpool

, known as the Reds (Anfield Road, Liverpool)
One of Britain's most successful football clubs yet formed in 1892 only as a replacement team, to occupy Anfield Road after *Everton had quarrelled with the landlord and departed. Elected to Division 2 of the *Football League in 1893, and winning in their first year, Liverpool have since then been almost continuously in Division 1 and subsequently the Premier League – with an astonishing series of victories in the 1970s and 1980s.
