ley lines

|
Straight lines forming a network across the landscape and connecting prehistoric sites, according to a theory put forward by Alan Watkins in Early British Trackways (1922). Modern believers tend to describe them as lines of geopathic energy, resulting from the earth's magnetic field. The argument is that our primitive ancestors, more sensitive than us to unseen influences, sited their holy places on the ley lines – and that traces of their ancient tracks can reveal where the lines run. Some water diviners claim they can locate them by traditional methods of dowsing.
