C.S. Lewis
|
|
(Clive Staples Lewis, 1898–1963) Author who reached a wide readership in three different fields. His study of courtly love (The Allegory of Love 1936) remains the best known of his academic books. As a committed Christian, he was able in his science fiction and in The *Screwtape Letters to confront the ordinary reader in a very lively manner with the challenge of his faith. And his attempt to stimulate the imagination of children in a similar direction was triumphantly successful in the *Narnia books.
