Lacock Abbey

(23km/14m NE of Bath)
From the 13C to the *dissolution of the monasteries this was a convent for *Augustinian nuns. A considerable amount of the old building survives among alterations of the Tudor period; the early *Gothic Revival additions are by Sanderson Miller (1717–80). The house is best known as the home of Fox *Talbot.
