Britain's largest robbery. Items variously estimated between £30m and £40m in value were stolen in July 1987 from the deposit boxes in the Knightsbridge Safety Deposit Centre in London. The managing director of the centre, Parvez Latif, was one of four men convicted of the crime; he was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
