Pass of Killiecrankie
|
|
Narrow wooded valley in the Tayside region of Scotland where, on 27 July 1689, *Jacobites massacred the remnants of an army supporting *William III after defeating them in a battle just outside the pass. The Jacobites failed to exploit the victory because their leader John Graham, Viscount Dundee ('Bonnie Dundee', 1648–89), died in the battle.
