Kenneth I
|
|
(d. 858) Son of Alpin (and known also therefore as Kenneth MacAlpin), he inherited from him *Dalriada, the kingdom of the *Scots. By battle and alliance he also gained control over the *Picts. He thus for the first time brought under one rule the whole of mainland Britain north of a line from the Clyde to the Forth. This domination by the Scots led eventually to the entire area being known as Scotland.
