Jane
|
|
Strip cartoon character in the Daily Mirror who acquired a devoted following among the troops during World War II – largely thanks to her perennial difficulty in keeping her clothes on, and to the curvaceous shapes revealed whenever she failed. She first appeared in the paper in 1932, drawn by Norman Pett. He continued until 1949 and other artists kept Jane alive for a further ten years; she was revived from 1985 to 1990.
