I, Claudius
|
|
(1934) Historical novel by Robert *Graves, in which Claudius narrates an endearing version of his own eccentric path to the imperial throne through the horrors of Rome in the 1st century AD. Together with its sequel, Claudius the God (also 1934), it provided the material for a 13-part BBC drama series (I, Claudius 1976) with Derek Jacobi as the central character.
