The Highwayman
|
|
Poem by Alfred Noyes (1880–1958) which is a favourite with many (particularly perhaps the young and female) for its old-fashioned virtues of rhythm and romance. It tells of the stormy night on which the highwayman comes 'riding – riding – riding' up to the old inn door, beyond which there waits 'the landlord's black-eyed daughter'.
