(All England Jumping Course) Location of many of Britain's main showjumping events, including the annual Hickstead Derby and the Nations Cup (for national teams). Douglas Bunn (b. 1928) was a member of the British showjumping team when he bought Hickstead Place in Sussex and set about turning an open field into an arena suitable for international competition. He organized the first Hickstead meeting in 1960, and the first Derby was held in 1961.
