Heath Robinson
|
|
(William Heath Robinson, 1872–1944) Cartoonist and illustrator who worked with great skill in several styles, but who particularly caught the public's fancy with his drawings of ludicrously elaborate machinery designed to achieve the most elementary of tasks. As a result any primitive and spindly device, relying on the equivalent of pieces of string, is described now as 'heath robinson'. His two brothers were also talented illustrators.
