(1920) Chekhovian comedy by George Bernard *Shaw. Written either before or during World War I, and first performed in New York in 1920, it uses the muddle-headed and for the most part appalling guests of an elderly eccentric, Captain Shotover, as an image of a community, by implication Britain, which has lost its sense of identity and purpose.
