(1854–1934, kt 1932) The leading British sculptor of the late 19C, best known for *Eros. His greatest work, mainly completed in the 1890s, is the tomb to the duke of Clarence in the *Albert Memorial Chapel, an extraordinarily elaborate monument in polychromed bronze and aluminium.
