Ffestiniog Railway
|
|
Narrow-gauge railway running 23km/14m from Porthmadog, on the west coast of Wales, up the vale of Ffestiniog to Blaenau Ffestiniog. It opened in 1836 for horse-drawn wagons bringing slate down to the harbour. The line was adapted to a passenger service with steam engines in the 1860s. In recent decades enthusiasts have gradually brought the old engines and rolling stock back into use.
