Epping Forest

Some 2400ha/6000ac of forest just to the north of London, in Essex, surviving from the large primeval forest which once covered most of *East Anglia. Preserved as a royal hunting ground for many centuries, Epping Forest was famous for its herds of fallow *deer, which have now almost died out.
