(1870–1945) Spoilt young aristocrat, with the nickname of 'Bosie', who indirectly caused the downfall of his lover, Oscar *Wilde. Wilde's *De Profundis was addressed to him from prison. Douglas was himself a minor poet, responsible for one widely remembered phrase – 'the *love that dare not speak its name'.
