Edwardian
|
|
Used specifically of the reign of *Edward VII (1901–10), most often in relation to fashion and social customs. The period, with its sweeping dresses, broad-brimmed hats and parasols, but with the horrors of World War I looming ahead, has acquired the nostalgic flavour of a sunlit interlude before the abrupt end of an era.
