|
(1749–1840) Topographical artist who went out to India in 1794 with his nephew William Daniell (1769–1837). Their series of large aquatints, published in six parts as Oriental Scenery (1795–1808), were largely responsible for the vogue for Indian architecture which began with *Sezincote. William later published an equally famous series of small aquatints of British coastal scenes (A Voyage round Great Britain 1814–25).
